The constant price war in Solar PV downgrades the brilliant technology behind it.

Updated: Jun 30, 2020

The scientists that work daily on turning innovative ideas into products that pave the road to a better future for the human race, the manufacturers that have invested millions in production facilities and ultimately the product itself to the eyes of the end customer.

The product and the industry deserve a different approach. Solar Modules can not be turned into a cheap commodity. It does not matter where they are being manufactured.

China , Europe or USA.

Solar Manufacturers have to develop their sales strategy based on Value Service and Communication principles and not on price.

Prices will always play an important role in the decision-making process however this can not be the predominant one.

I am aware that my approach may perhaps sound erratic however I am confident that this is the way forward for the Solar Sector as a whole.

Modern Solar Panels are the outcome of more than 180 years, at least, of research and development.

In 1839 Alexandre Edmond Becquerel discovered the photovoltaic effect which explains how electricity can be generated from sunlight. He claimed that “shining light on an electrode submerged in a conductive solution would create an electric current.” However, even after much research and development subsequent to the discovery, photovoltaic power continued to be very inefficient. People mainly used solar cells for the purpose of measuring light.

Over 100 years later, in 1941, Russell Ohl invented the#solarcell, shortly after the invention of the transistor.

Next time you negotiate "prices" with your supplier please remember the above.

The constant price war has turned this brilliant product and technology into commodity.

The Solar Sector deserves so much more.
